How to Assign/Unassign User Roles
Summary of steps
Below is a series of steps you can follow to assign a system role to a user or users
Assigning a role
- Login to your moodle platform with an administrator account.
- Go to the Settings Administration > Site administration > Users > Permissions > Assign system roles.
- This will open the Assign roles in System page.
- In the table below you have 3 columns, Role, Description and Users with role
- Selecting the name of the role you would like to assign will allow you to edit the number of users assigned to the role
- After selecting the role you will be taken to the Assign role '(role name)’ in System page
- In the left list you will see all the existing users with this role
- In the right list you will see all the potential users
- To add a user select the user from the list on the right, if you need to search the list type a part of the name in the search field located beneath the list
- Select the ‘Add’ button to add these users to the list on the left
- Congratulations you have given your selected users the system role of your choice, repeat this process for assigning other system roles
Unassigning a role
To unassign a role from a user, repeat the process above, but rather then selecting users from the list on the right, select the user(s) you want to unassign from the list on the left and press the ‘Remove’ button.
